Donations to the scholarship fund can be made by check payable to 'St. John's University/SRM' with a notation for (JSIA/Calascione Fund). Checks should be mailed to: Attention: Melodee Harper Fields, School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science, 101 Astor Place, Room 259, Manhattan Campus, New York, NY 10003-7132. Donations to the fund are recognized as charitable contributions within the University's status as a 501 (C) (3) organization which can also facilitate matching contributions from supporting firms.
ANNOUNCEMENT: NOVEMBER 2018 - ANNUAL UPDATE: JOHN STREET INSURANCE ASSOCIATION CALASCIONE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The John Street Club is pleased to announce our 2018 John Street Insurance Association Calascione Scholarship recipients are Alessandro Bruno and Bernard Veneziano. Both are Quantitative Risk Management majors at St. John's University, School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science and will be graduating in May 2019. They were acknowledged as the 2018 Scholar recipients at the November Membership Luncheon and each received a $3,000 check from the Scholarship Fund.

Our goal is to fund a scholarship in perpetuity for students in the School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science at St. John's University. The Scholarship Fund and annual award honoring the memory of our former President and Governor Steve Calascione who passed away in 2010. The John Street Insurance Association is proud to help build the future leaders of the industry and continue to the vitality of our Club.

The John Street Club is excited to announce our 2017 John Street Insurance Association Calascione Scholarship recipients are Rebecca Koumides and James Pappas who are currently enrolled at St. John's University, School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science. They were acknowledged as the 2017 Scholar recipients at the October Membership Luncheon and both students have received a $3,000 check from the Scholarship Fund.

This is the seventh year to fund a scholarship. Our goal is to fund a scholarship in perpetuity for students in the School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science at St. John's University. They are both students in the School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science at St. John's University. They were acknowledged as the 2014 Scholar recipients when they attended the November luncheon and they have both received a check for $3,000 from the Scholarship Fund.

The Scholarship Fund was formed four years ago to obtain donations to fund a scholarship in perpetuity to students in the School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science at St. John's University. The Scholarship Fund and the award of annual scholarships honor the memory of our former President and Governor Steve Calascione who passed away, all too soon, in 2010. The awards look back fondly to our friendship with Steve but also look forward, to the future of our industry and the continuing vitality of our Club.

The principal balance of the John Street Insurance Association Calascione Scholarship Fund is now $65,175. Reaching a principal balance of over $65K is a significant achievement. Thank you very much for your kind and generous donations and for obtaining donations from your companies. The annual golf and tennis outing this year raised $6,500 for the fund through sponsorships of the outing.

Every member of the John Street Insurance Association should be very proud of the Scholarship Fund.

ANNOUNCEMENT: August 2012 - First Calascione Scholarships Awarded
All Club Members should take pride in knowing that the first two John Street Insurance Association - Steve Calascione Memorial Scholarships will be awarded this September, for the current academic year. Two deserving students of the St. John's University School of Risk Management will receive scholarships of $1,000 each. We will announce the recipients at an upcoming Club meeting and hope to meet them personally as our guests at a subesquent luncheon. The scholarships honor the memory of our former President and Governor Steve Calascione who passed away, all too soon, in 2010. The awards look back fondly to our friendship with Steve but also look forward, to the future of our industry and the continuing vitality of our Club. We ask all members to consider making a gift to the Scholarship Fund to continue and enhance this program.

The Board of Governors of The John Street Insurance Association (The John Street Club) has completed arrangements with St. John's University and its School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science (SRM), for a Scholarship Fund to honor the memory of our dear friend and colleague, Steve Calascione. Our goal is to obtain donations from individuals and companies which will fund a scholarship in perpetuity to students in the School of Risk Management. The Scholarship will not only benefit those deserving students but the Insurance industry at large. You can rest assured that your generous donations will benefit future generations of Insurance professionals. The scholarship was created in consultation with Steve's family. All of your donations will be recognized as charitable contributions within the University's status as a 501 (c) (3) organization (which will facilitate matching contributions from supporting firms). Donations should be made by check payable to "St. John's University/SRM" with a notation "For the JSIA/Calascione Fund".

BACKGROUND NOTE: Our dear friend, fellow Governor and President of the John Street Insurance Association, Steve Calascione, died suddenly on Friday, September 3, 2010. Steve was serving an unprecedented second term as our President with his usual friendly and enthusiastic leadership that has done so much to reinvigorate The John Street Club with new initiatives and new members. Steve was an Executive Vice President and Managing Director of JLT Re North America here in New York and before that on the underwriting side, he was a senior officer of QBE Insurance. Among Steve's many good works, he particularly valued his membership with others from our industry in The Friendly Sons of St Patrick.
