Dave Obenauer is Chief Executive Officer with CRC Group and has been leading the firm in various capacities since 2007. With over 36 years of insurance industry experience, Obenauer focuses on shaping and pursuing strategic priorities across CRC Group as the company evolves to continue meeting client and marketplace needs.
As CEO, Obenauer is responsible for leading a wholesale and specialty insurance platform which includes CRC Specialty + Benefits as well as underwriting operations encompassing AmRisc, Starwind, Atrium, and Euclid Transactional. With over 6,000 specialist employees across 9 countries, these operations produce over $33B of premium volume annually across both the property and casualty industry as well as the employee benefits sector. Obenauer previously served as CFO for Marsh Americas and Chief Administrative Officer for Marsh’s wholesale brokerage and underwriting management operations (with operations in the US, Canada, and the U.K.).
He began his insurance industry career with United Educators Insurance, moving through the ranks to become its CFO and COO. Obenauer is a current board member for the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers (CIAB), an overseer of the Maurice R. Greenberg School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science at St. John’s University, and a former board member and chair of the Wholesale & Specialty Insurance Association (WSIA). He holds a BA from Wake Forest University and an MBA from Wharton, both conferred with honors.
